Hemorrhoid Treatment with Snyder HemBand
When home remedies and lifestyle changes aren’t enough, your doctor may recommend a simple in-office procedure called rubber band ligation, often referred to as hemorrhoid banding.
At Capitol Gastro, our specialists use the Snyder HemBand system — a safe, proven, and painless treatment designed to provide lasting relief.
Your first visit will include a consultation and exam, where your doctor will discuss your symptoms, explain how the procedure works, and answer any questions you may have. If banding is the right option for you, treatment is typically scheduled over a series of visits.
Most patients need three banding sessions, spaced about two weeks apart, followed by a check-up to make sure everything has healed well. Many patients begin to feel better after the first session, but completing the full course of treatment greatly reduces the chance of hemorrhoids returning.
Because banding is quick, requires no anesthesia, and causes minimal discomfort, you can return to your normal activities the same day. No special preparation is needed, and you may eat and go about your routine as usual.

Benefits of Hemorrhoid Banding with Snyder HemBand
No anesthesia, sedation, or special preparation required
● Painless, quick, in-office procedure (usually under a minute)
● Covered by most insurance plans, including Medicare, Medicaid, and TriCare
● Very high success rate compared to creams or home remedies
● Latex-free option available for patients with allergies
What to Expect After Banding
Most patients resume normal routines right away, though your doctor may recommend avoiding heavy lifting or strenuous exercise for 2–3 days. The treated hemorrhoid typically falls off within 1–3 days, and the area heals fully within 1–2 weeks. Minor pelvic cramping or pressure can occur but usually resolves within a day or two. Warm sitz baths and over-the-counter pain relievers (acetaminophen or ibuprofen) can help with temporary discomfort.
How does it work?
1. Application: Using the Snyder HemBand applicator, your physician will place a medical-grade rubber band
around the base of your hemorrhoid.
2. Compression: The soft rubber band generates gentle compression around the hemorrhoid, causing it to shrink.
3. Resolution: The hemorrhoid and rubber band both fall off within 2 to 3 days, effectively resolving the problem of prolapse
and its associated symptoms.
